About Abeer Amin

I knew before ever setting foot in law school, that I wanted to practice immigration law. I was born in Pakistan and raised in Saudi Arabia. Like many foreign-born parents, my parents sacrificed much to prepare my siblings and me for an education that would promise a future in America. I graduated from college and law school in the United States. Because I benefitted so personally from the promises of immigration, I attended law school with the intention of becoming an immigration lawyer. One of my chief motivators is the awareness that while each of my family members pursued a different immigration path to this country, some found their journey easier than others. Those who immigrated with relative ease had qualified help before venturing onto foreign soil. Sharing those experiences, coupled with my own history, compelled my interests in providing the highest level of care to the greatest number of people leaving their homeland and venturing courageously into the unknown.

Professional Experience

Because my intended path was always settled, everything I have done professionally has prepared me for the rigorous demands of a full-service immigration practice. In law school, I was a pro bono Student Practitioner for the Barry immigration Clinic. I assisted and represented non-citizens seeking immigration benefits or defending against removal proceedings before the Department of Homeland Security and the Executive Office for Immigration Review.

After law school I joined various boutique law firms that specialized in immigration applications for both individuals and business entities. In the business realm, I assisted business entities navigate the complex immigration requirements of acquiring international talent, including helping private sector professionals gain permanent residency and other non-immigrant visas, such as securing H1B status. I also assisted internationally recognized photographers, journalists, artists, and other individuals with extraordinary abilities to obtain O1 Visa and assisted IT professionals and other human resource professionals obtain permanent residence status on the basis of highly specialized EB1 Visas reserved for multi-national executives and managers. With respect individual immigration applicants, I assisted clients acquire waivers for “extreme hardship” applications and analyzed and addressed a variety of consular processing issues.

Whether working on behalf of a large company or a single individual, I am always aware of the importance of creating ease in an otherwise anxious process, one I have occupied equally on both sides as an immigrant and an attorney. The American dream starts with eliminating barriers to legal entry. My commitment to my clients is to treat their immigration needs with the same care, diligence and respect that I would demand for my family or myself.
